C250TD OM605 with injector pump woes

Post by SantoC » Fri 10 May, 2019 2:17 pm

Purchased a 1999 C250TD with an OM605 engine a while ago but I'm now itching to get this car derivable again.

The car shakes like a remedial massage chair in idle but smooths out when the pedal is pressed. The engine mounts have been changed.

The car has an issue with the injector pump. The story I was told by the previous owner is apparently their previous mechanic had tried to change leaking o-rings on the delivery valves but somehow managed to destroy the injector pump.

There is oil mixing with the fuel. Not sure if its a simple fix by getting the pump calibrated or worse, internal damage. I have changed the fuel pump (located on the injector pump) to no avail.

I'm in the process of obtaining a mechanical pump from a Musso 2.9L turbo diesel. Hopefully that should work without too much complications.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

These use electric accelerator pedals and the computer needs to know what's what so it can tell the 722.6xx what is going on. The mechanical pump will not give the computer what it needs so I suspect you won't get good gear changes. Also, get all the piping as there is press on pipes all over this IP

If oil is mixing in the IP, sounds like an internal leak. Probably cheapest to get the IP reconditioned from a Bosch Diesel specialist.

These are notorious for o-ring air leaks all over the place. It's frustrating and painful. Evry thing that can go wrong with them, I have had ....
